After you have set the laptop at the correct screen resolution, click the second screen, the television, and do the same. Right-click a blank space on the laptop desktop to bring up a menu. For HDTVs, you will need to set the correct resolution for the screen. Switching to the S-video input on a standard television will automatically display the laptop desktop on the TV screen. Press the "Input" button on the TV remote control to switch to the HDMI input, the VGA input or, for the standard TV, the S-video input.
